Character Development 2

New; after certain character decisions were made (burly man, drunk girl, crazy captain, hipster)

Sorry for the layout, sometimes blogger doesn't let you click on the image to see full size (why?)
Also, be on the look out for camp spiderman. (As if being dressed in such Americana wasn't camp enough)

Character Development 1

My work so far;

Old (before we chose specific character tropes)

More Burly Man Development

Thought I'd throw in some stuff ive been doing on the burly dude. Here are some sheets on shape and trying to find his personality. Really loved the big round arms Kat's been drawing, think they suit his character :) These are just some roughs of what I had in mind.. think we'll be able to establish the final-ish looks soon.

Burly man and leetle gurl

More development sketches for the burly man. I had a few pages of sketches I did when I stayed up silly hours and watched the Superbowl, which was good inspiration towards drawing the burly man :)

 He gradually gets bulkier each time until he's ridiculously broad at the top. I really like how his shoulders slope in the later sketches.
 Just some doodles of girl ideas. I really liked Lynsey's idea of the harem pants for the girl so these are some early concepts of that. The pants look too solid though, so I'm thinking of making them more weighty at the bottom.

Size relation

Playing about with size here, just a rough draft of the main cast;

Also a fun drawing of the captain in his brothel attire.

Captain yar

Some more of my captain faces.. from lookin at all our sketchbooks, I feel there is consensus in his crazy eyes and big beard. Trying to be final is the hard part at this point! Have a feelin the characters will change slightly after theyve been finalised this semester anyway

Further Character Design

So, we've been having a few talks about our crew and at the moment we are having a burly guy, a drunken female pirate and our celery stick based pirate. At first we had ideas of him being a model, more flamboyant and maybe sleazy. After some chat we've decided on making him a bit of a hipster, that male model look, fashion conscience, trying to be different kind of guy.

Here are some inspirations down here...

Shape and flamboyant types

A bit more french and camp

Trying to take things from Lynsey's sketch and see if I can come with anything, has been fun development tho, jus need to keep goin..

Character ideas and drawings

 Hey guys, just posting some of the concepts from my sketchbook. Definitely need to add more piratey items to them later on but these are just early concepts.  :D

 This guy is my favourite, I liked the idea of him having war like paint round his eyes in that particular shade of purple.

Ship designs!

Looking at different veg and making them look like a ship. In my head, I always thought the ship would have this big round front, in the way that the captain might have a big chest. Words like boisterous, big, round, confident, kind of in your face.

I like the butternut squash shape at the moment, still needs further development.
